Well, let me dust a little in here
before I set anything down. It's been far too long since I came and
did any kind of update. Truly, most of my online presence has been
suffering as of late. I'm going through a somewhat creative
resurgence and I'm finding too much time online, not directly related
to my inspirations to be stifling. I do go through these phases
though, and eventually I'll balance out again. I thought I might show
progress on the enormous project I have going.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
This is … large. Ha. I'm not entirely
sure if it's going to end up a wall hanging or not. That was it's
original purpose, but I don't know what I have a wall large enough to
mount it on. When this thing is finished I am definitely going to
want to see it all the time. I've recently discovered the crack that
is Kuroshitsuji, or Black Butler if you prefer. The story is not for
those under 17 or 18 so I won't go into particulars here. I'll simply
say the story is beautiful and cruel and the art is absolutely
lovely.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
I have been working on a large piece
depicting the title of the manga/anime. It's being done in crochet
and is one of the larger pieces I've ever tackled. It's 200 stitches
wide and will be... 183 rows high (I think) I need to double check my
pattern. I haven't done a large picture piece in crochet since I
finished the Hunger Games emblem. So I decided to do another two
color piece to get me back into practice. It's in black and white, as
one might expect. (Kuro Ni/Shiro Ni) After some playing around with
different programs I had a relatively easy time making the pattern.
The next one will have 5 colors I believe.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
The project is going well but hasn't
been without it's issues! After about 20 rows, I suddenly noticed a
huge error in the graphic I made the pattern from. One of the
Japanese characters was wrong and didn't match the cover of the
manga. Ugh. So I went into my graphics program and fixed it. PIXEL BY
PIXEL. Oh god, I hope it's correct now. HA! Anyway, I'm pleased as
punch with how it's coming out. I'm using a 5.00 MM hook, AKA US H
hook. One of my inspirations for this kind of work, Lee Mac from
<a href="http://totallee.net/">http://totallee.net/</a> just finished
an amazing piece using a 3.00 MM hook. (Totally, go see it. It will
blow your socks off). I don't know if I can imagine doing one of
these with a 3... I have a 3.5 though and the next one will have a
fair bit of detail in it. I'm contemplating trying it. I can make the
blocks have more stitches for detail and they will still come out at
a size closer to what I want. This thing I am making now is like 3
feet long!</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
SO enough babble... how about some
pictures right?</div>

I tried it on last night and it looks amazing. It's done in silver and green aluminum rings in the byzantine weave. I love this weave. I love making it and I love wearing it. I just snapped a couple of quick shots with my phone. It will get the glam photo shoot when the weather and sunlight cooperate.<br />
<br />
I am toying with the idea of making a twisted weave with the byz as a choker. I played with the concept with the finished necklace and draped it over my wrist to see if I liked the effect. I like it very much. I'm excited to try it.<br />
<br />
I've got a couple of custom orders I need to fill first though.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="240" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/v/962937_10201121964311042_1643419072_n.jpg?oh=e505d54a3846d540806c1ed7f234896a&oe=51983AE9&__gda__=1368931540_4e859a185fb7d48f520164e7ba430db2" width="320" /> </div>
<br />
The new sparklies are here! I can hardly wait to dive into them and get to work. I've got a big batch of shiny aluminum, three colors of anodized aluminum, and I'm trying out a shiny brass. I think it's going to be beautiful with the pale pink. That is the first combo I'm going to try out. I will keep you updated here, and as soon as something is finished it will get added to the shop.<br />
<br />
I've got something else I've been working on, another prototype. I have this really interesting yarn. It's bumpy and wiggly and a really awesome color for summer. So yesterday I whipped up a little dice bag! It just needs a cord to go with it and then I'll photograph that to show off as well. Dicebags are so personal as any table top gamer will tell you. I have one to go with each particular character I play. HA! I also love making them. My mother, who is not a gamer, also commented on how much she loves the little bag. I think she wants to commission one a bit larger as a pouch for her sunglasses. There's an idea also... small change purse? It could be anything I guess, couldn't it? Well pictures to come soon!ThingsTreasuredhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08816942927568036789noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5493065694531762155.post-22611274539562570112013-05-15T09:28:00.002-05:002013-05-15T09:28:47.029-05:00It's OfficialAfter a long hiatus, it is official.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/ThingsTreasured">Things Treasured has an etsy shop now! </a><br />
<br />
Currently in the shop are my favorite stitch markers. They are light weight aluminum rings with Czech seed beads strung into them. Some of the sets have whimsical row markers on them, and some are just a bunch of the beaded rings.<br />
<br />
By Friday I should have a new jump ring order arriving by post. This means Byzantine necklaces should be in the shop by the end of next week. This one is already sold, but others will be coming soon.<br />

I’m not though. I think most of this is afraid of doing poorly and wasting materials, and a lack of practice. So I began to remedy this. I have made my first drawstring bag. It’s blue and silver stripy material that my mom had in a big trunk. So I have no idea what kind of fabric it is. It is a little bit weighty and had good body to it though.  I designed it with a round bottom. To make sure that it stays round when objects are inside it, I’ve sandwiched some plastic canvas in there to give it structure. </p> <p> </p> <p>I did almost the entire project by myself. Mom helped me sew one part that I couldn’t figure out how to get into the sewing machine, and she gave me general instructions on when to flip it inside out and if I should be stitching right sides or wrong sides together. The final sewing around the bottom had to be all hand sewn, so I also asked her to show me how to do that. But I did all of that sewing. I’m really happy with how it all came out. I hope my swap partner enjoys it!  </p> <p>I’m looking forward to trying more projects now. There is a little box shaped bag I am eager to try!</p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-ik1aD_Ccxlo/T8O9WkAClFI/AAAAAAAAA-w/XIjif3In4-A/s1600-h/DSC03022%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSC03022" border="0" alt="DSC03022" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-t9pd5yvrsf4/T8O9XXs9iYI/AAAAAAAAA-4/pO3h5ceqCbg/DSC03022_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="180" height="240" /></a><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-m4kaIqqjCc8/T8O9X4KkR-I/AAAAAAAAA_A/072GFAs2bF0/s1600-h/DSC03023%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSC03023" border="0" alt="DSC03023" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-0I_Ka_ZkjVk/T8O9YT-_FKI/AAAAAAAAA_I/Sq5JsyETluM/DSC03023_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="180" height="240" /></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/--AidlTa-GDM/T8O9ZEDfEoI/AAAAAAAAA_Q/U3iK23DGMzs/s1600-h/DSC03024%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 10px 0px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSC03024" border="0" alt="DSC03024" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-8E3hpa6EYns/T8O9Zs3TdqI/AAAAAAAAA_Y/SV4kiZJHl7o/DSC03024_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="240" height="180" /></a><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Ecpr9cSr4uY/T8O9aJCtWxI/AAAAAAAAA_g/6BfXG5ASPaM/s1600-h/DSC03026%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSC03026" border="0" alt="DSC03026" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-kKvaC6p9gaw/T8O9aRNfn5I/AAAAAAAAA_o/U2797Kw8v-I/DSC03026_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="180" height="240" /></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-MBzvAPuROWc/T8O9a0b5MJI/AAAAAAAAA_w/LYTrjN12M38/s1600-h/DSC03027%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSC03027" border="0" alt="DSC03027" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-96KadXcOOAQ/T8O9bZZT8eI/AAAAAAAAA_4/_TosowlQrH0/DSC03027_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="180" height="240" /></a><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-dEmCiOtSbn8/T8O9b5N1hZI/AAAAAAAABAA/Zt9TlGyOK_Q/s1600-h/DSC03028%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 10px 0px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSC03028" border="0" alt="DSC03028" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-1710odEl4ek/T8O9cf0GbVI/AAAAAAAABAI/PwZ3P11U--g/DSC03028_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="240" height="180" /></a></p> ThingsTreasuredhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08816942927568036789noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5493065694531762155.post-8866097306881875122012-04-28T13:10:00.001-05:002012-04-28T13:10:41.061-05:00Strawberries and Alpaca<p>I had a treasured moment today. Hubby and I decided it was a perfect day for an adventure. We looked around on line at things to do locally and were coming up a bit stumped. Several of the places were for various pick your own fruit farms. Most of them in the area are for blueberries. Now I like blueberries, but no one in the house really loves them. So we kept looking until we found a local (miraculous) farm selling pick your own strawberries. </p> <p>So we got ourselves into the car and headed to the farm. It’s really a lovely cute little place and the drive was scenic. We weren’t quite sure what to do when we arrived because you just pull into this field and there are crops on one side and a building on another. We went into the building and the people were incredibly friendly. </p> <p>The strawberry picking was such fun. All of their crops are hydroponic and planted vertically. There is no stooping over to pick berries. We picked a little over two pounds and then headed inside. Inside of the building I found ALPACA wool for sale! The woman there owns and shows champion alpaca and was selling wool. So I bought several ounces to try. </p> <p>We struck up a conversation and she showed me her electric spinning wheel which I’ve never seen before. I explained how I can spindle spin ok, but my wheel gives me fits. She then put me on a list to contact when she has spinning classes this fall. It was a magical fun day and I can’t wait until our next adventure. </p> <p> </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-uRsGwR3Fr0k/T5wymwpVjRI/AAAAAAAAA8M/atbbZYN9BFQ/s1600-h/DSC02968%25255B9%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 10px 0px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSC02968" border="0" alt="DSC02968" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-sSP5U1TdYBg/T5wynLKTaVI/AAAAAAAAA8U/nIhwUm253e0/DSC02968_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="288" height="216" /></a></p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-ouCtx98j0MU/T5wynoTMswI/AAAAAAAAA8c/GRb_P7ARdDI/s1600-h/DSC02969%25255B9%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 10px 0px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSC02969" border="0" alt="DSC02969" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-sF2EnbXGnjY/T5wyoEQvBWI/AAAAAAAAA8k/VT4dvOcFsbo/DSC02969_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="288" height="216" /></a></p> ThingsTreasuredhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08816942927568036789noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5493065694531762155.post-67767811459226287162012-04-04T14:45:00.000-05:002012-04-04T14:45:03.402-05:00Wishful ThinkingIf you follow the rest of my blogs, you will know that I am currently in a resurgence after a blogging hiatus. As I explained in my health and fitness related place, I've been suffering from a general over-lode of life and a liberal sprinkling of depression. (Self Diagnosed)<br />
<br />
My husband and I struggle with infertility. We have been trying to start our family for... oh... 6? Years now.. I think. It's begun to run together. Sometimes I think I might just collapse from watching everyone around me have babies.<br />
<a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/Silverwing26/81883068/DSC02445_medium2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/Silverwing26/81883068/DSC02445_medium2.JPG" width="320" /></a><br />Sometimes I try and find ways of coping. Often, those ways involve making things for our future babies, however we might come by them. <br />
<br />
This is a blanket I made not too long ago when I was going through a particularly down moment. It's a lovely lace pattern knitted with some soft worsted weight yarn. I love the colors. They are a bit on the feminine side, but I'm not one for color coding children. My favorite color has always been blue, and I wouldn't find a boy who's favorite color is pink to be any less masculine.<br />
<br />
Right now, I'm going through another hard spot. So I once again have reached for my yarn to help me get through it. I'm making another baby blanket. This one is crochet and it is the lovely ripple pattern by Lucy at <a href="http://attic24.typepad.com/">Attic24</a>. I've chosen white and blue in uneven, yet rhythmic ripples. I’m about to go put it up now. However, I’ll have sets just like these in a multitude of colors very shortly when I get my etsy shop open. It’s very exciting. I love these little stitch markers.</p> <p> </p> <p> <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-dtUxJn0gXTM/Tqm3VrY6XsI/AAAAAAAAA5U/er9BYGBPrsk/s1600-h/DSC02416%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 10px 0px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSC02416" border="0" alt="DSC02416" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-M_HSZEDXQoo/Tqm3VxSsCkI/AAAAAAAAA5c/Xe6tV3ln8gY/DSC02416_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="387" height="290" /></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-um1470XOTSk/Tqm3WQwF_zI/AAAAAAAAA5k/bD2nXhtxNVU/s1600-h/DSC02420%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 10px 0px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSC02420" border="0" alt="DSC02420" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-6l0VrY-9DxM/Tqm3Wj-dW8I/AAAAAAAAA5s/QWFjp1toy34/DSC02420_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="387" height="209" /></a></p> ThingsTreasuredhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08816942927568036789noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5493065694531762155.post-23075665642551390092011-10-26T17:36:00.001-05:002011-10-26T17:36:59.441-05:00In Progress<p><strong><font color="#9b00d3">And a few tidbits to show you of in progress projects!</font></strong></p> <p> </p> <p><img style="margin: 0px 10px 0px 0px" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/Silverwing26/78627308/DSC02250_medium2.JPG" width="311" height="233" /></p> <p> </p> <p><img style="margin: 0px 10px 0px 0px" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/Silverwing26/78627332/DSC02251_medium2.JPG" width="315" height="236" /></p> <p> </p> <p><img style="margin: 0px 10px 0px 0px" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/Silverwing26/78628269/DSC02253_medium2.JPG" width="315" height="236" /></p> <p> </p> <p><img style="margin: 0px 10px 0px 0px" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/Silverwing26/78628434/DSC02254_medium2.JPG" width="319" height="239" /></p> ThingsTreasuredhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08816942927568036789noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5493065694531762155.post-69491656792500545362011-10-26T17:31:00.002-05:002011-10-26T17:32:31.659-05:00Crochet fun<b><span style="color: green;">I’ve been doing a bit of crochet lately. I was attempting to make a messenger style bag. I need a new ‘purse’. Well I sort of just designed this as I went. It’s a lovely green strip, and then a variegated green stripe around and around in a circle. It’s definitely durable because I made it out of cotton. However, it really turned out too larger and too round. I discovered I really don’t want a round bag on my side. But it will make a lovely beach bag I think.</span></b><br />

Yup. I’ve been blissfully married for 9 years now. My wonderful husband has always been very supportive of my creative side. When I became interested in yarn and knitting and all that it entails, he held on and was as supportive as ever. Well, for an anniversary gift, he really blew me away. </strong></font></p> <p><font color="#0000ff" size="6"><strong>Do you want to see it???</strong></font></p> <p><a href="file:///C:/Users/Crystal's Beast/AppData/Local/Temp/WindowsLiveWriter1286139640/supfilesA4861B4/DSC01796[11].jpg"><font color="#0000ff"><strong><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-l_arx0asK8E/Tlk3d9GU6gI/AAAAAAAAAzg/hNryVu53_hA/s1600-h/DSC01796_thumb%25255B9%25255D%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="DSC01796_thumb[9]" border="0" alt="DSC01796_thumb[9]" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-jr2TvYfG6p0/Tlk3eIQY4RI/AAAAAAAAAzk/CjhBtMorC-8/DSC01796_thumb%25255B9%25255D_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="298" height="480" /></a></strong></font></a></p> <p><font color="#0000ff"><strong>I can’t believe it! (Oh, excuse the messy room if you will please.) I am so excited! I have tried it briefly, and right now, I am not very good. I admit it. But I am so willing to practice. I’ve gotten my book out that talks about spinning on a wheel, and I am requesting a couple of books from the library. So far I have two major issues. One is keeping the wheel spinning in the same direction. It wants to change on me. I think that is a treadling issue? The other is that I am not building up enough twist and the yarn is falling apart on me. I have the opposite issue on my drop spindle where I often build up too much twist. So, I need to learn how to control my twist. </strong></font></p> <p><font color="#0000ff"><strong>Anyway, I am looking forward to completing my list of obligations, cleaning a perfect spot for my new wheel so I can sit comfortably and practice. I have read that just 15-20 minutes a day is ideal. I’m such a lucky, thankful, and happy girl. </strong></font></p> <p><font color="#0000ff"><strong>Thank you my love for all that you do and in all the ways you are supportive. </strong></font></p> ThingsTreasuredhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08816942927568036789noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5493065694531762155.post-36120704053899427052011-08-27T13:13:00.003-05:002011-08-27T13:26:04.138-05:00Hexipuff Madness!!!<span style="color: #c0504d;"><b>I am supposed to be working exclusively on WIPS right now. However, a new madness has struck the tower. This is a bit like when Ysolda fever hit the tower hard. I was never struck with the Ysolda fever even though I admired her designs. At the time, I could only afford to knit free patterns. Though I just picked up Whimsical Little Knits 2. So I may succumb to that fever yet. </b></span><br />
<span style="color: #c0504d;"><b>But back to Hexipuffs. Hexipuffs are these hexagon shaped little puffy things. (We use all the technical terms here) They are knit in the round and then lightly stuffed with batting. Once you have about a bajillion of them, you connect them together to form a quilt. It is the top, batting and bottom of the quilt all in one. I have to say, they are quite addictive. There is something soothing about knitting them, and something delightful in holding them. I like watching them gather together as I finish them. Some of the colors compliment each other, and some clash, but they all work well together. I’m really very pleased. I’m in no hurry to ‘finish’ this project. I will just happily knit puffs when the mood strikes me until I have somewhere near a bajillion of them. </b></span><br />

I am really pleased with how it came out. I won’t be tackling this pattern again because the edging was a nightmare. I don’t think the pattern is written quite correctly. Or it could have to do with the fact that I needed to adjust it because I didn’t crochet the blanket full size as called for in the pattern. Had I continued as far is it said to, that baby blanket would have fit my queen size bed. </span></b><br />
<br />
<b><span style="color: #0080ff;">I really do like the pinwheel pattern it produced though. I may try that again with a simple shell edging. It’s really quite beautiful a blanket. I was very flattered to find that when I went to the house of the expectant parents, that the blanket is draped across her glider. I’m very honored. I am so happy they like it also! </span></b><br />
<br />
<b><span style="color: #0080ff;">That is my latest FO. I’m still working on my lovely GEM socks. I’m going slow on them because my hands have been giving me trouble. The next post will likely feature some drawings I have been working on for the table top RPG I am playing in right now. I haven’t done drawings in a long time. I feel kind of lost! But I've been working on a gift for this weekend that I hope to show. But in truth, I haven't touched that in about a week or 10 days. I'm just not motivated.<br />
<br />
What I have been doing is drawing though. I play in a table top Role Playing game with my husband and a couple of really good friends of ours. I've been drawing characters from the game. It's nearly halloween in game time. My character is going as little red riding hood... I hope to get those pictures scanned and posted. It's been a lot of fun.ThingsTreasuredhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08816942927568036789noreply@blogger.com0
